The selection of Italian chefs who will be competing in the next Cous Cous Fest has begun, the 21st eCous Cous Fest returns to San Vito Lo Capo, the international Festival of Cultural Integration. The 21st edition will take place from the 21st to the 30th of September 2018. The event, organized by the Marketing &Communication Agency Feedback in cooperation with the Town of San Vito Lo Capo, promotes intercultural exchangebetween Euro-Mediterranean nations and many more, drawing on couscous:a dish with a long history and element of synthesis between different cultures. A culinary competition whichbrings together10 countries, cooking shows with top chefs, cultural meetings and cooking challenges are some of the features of the events programme which embraces taste, culture and fun. 10 days with special guests and international artists who, like every year, enliven the ‘Couscous evenings’ under the light of the stars, with shows and concerts. The first weekend of the festival presents the ‘Campionato italiano BIA couscous’, the competition where chefs from all over Italy prepare couscous-based dishes. This year there will be 10 nations competing for the Couscous World Championship, main competiton of the festival and heart of the event. The chefs will be judged both by a panel of specialists and by an audience panel made up of visitors to the Festival. Couscous aficionadoswill find over 30 recipes in the ‘Houses of Cousccous’; the 6 tasting spots positioned all over the village, 4 of which located on the beach. You’ll find not just couscous in the new space ‘Cous Cous and friends’, while ‘Dolcemente Sicilia’ will offer the most delicious sweetrecipes from the island. In order to taste the dishes createdby top chefs, it is possible for visitors to participate in the cooking shows with special guests Giorgione, from Gambero Rosso Channel, Giancarlo Morelli, michelin star chef, and Sergio Barzetti, star of the cooking tv show ‘La prova del cuoco’. Top Sicilian chef and restauranteur Filippo La Mantia will also take part in the festival, together with food blogger Chiara Maci, who will lead a couscous laboratory for our younger visitors. dition to be hosted in San Vito Lo Capo from 21st to 30th of September. This year the fourth edition of the Bia Couscous Italian Championship will reappear, a competition which compares in San Vito Lo Capo on the 22nd and 23rd September cooks from all over Italy who prepare couscous-based recipes. Taking part to the selection is easy: up to the 30th of June chefs can registeronline at https://contest.couscousworld.com/ uploading their couscous recipe as well as a photo and a description of the dish. A board of specialists will evaluate all candidates and narrow the selection down to 5. Web users will also be able to choose a candidate, voting on the online platform. The winner will be invited to be part of the italian national team which will be competing at the World Couscous Championship, which embraces 10 different teams of chefs from all around the globe. The contest is named after Bia CousCous, a leading company in Europe for the production and commercialization of couscous and top in the world for organic couscous production, head offices in Argenta (Fe) and main sponsor of the event.
